California sea lions bask in the sun in this 9" x 12" watercolour. Colonies like this one forage for a wide variety of seafood all along our coast, sometimes diving for as long as 10 minutes. Males grow to about 8 feet long and can weigh more than 700 pounds; females are generally about 6 feet long and weigh about 200 pounds.
